Reno ACES

The Reno Aces and US Bank have always been involved in education.  This year, they changed how they did things, and schools now have to apply in a competitive process to get tickets to a Reno Aces Game.  ONLY 5 SCHOOLS  IN NEVADA WERE CHOSEN. . .

And we were one of them!!!! HOORAY!

They were looking for schools where students represented courage, and of course, ours do!  Many of our students left behind a school, a teaching staff, and FRIENDS that they had had for years, to come to school at Oasis Academy.  Our parents showed great courage by doing the same! That is not an easy thing to do.  I hope you all feel like it paid off for you educationally, but today it payed off through a GREAT assembly for our students.

Archie was here, OF COURSE, and he read a story to us.  Then two of the players talked about Academics, Attendance, and Attitude.  We were lucky to have Bryan Woodall who is a relief pitcher and Ryan Wheeler, 3rd baseman, as the players who visited our school (they tell me Ryan will definitely have a career in the majors)!  It was fun to listen to them talk to the kids.  When Bryan was 11 he was the pitcher for the Little League World Series and his team won the U.S competition.

They were nice enough to take pictures with each and every class!

In addition, they gave us 200 FREE tickets to their FRIDAY, JUNE 1st game (7p.m).  I know it is a very, very busy time of year, but we really want Oasis Academy to be represented  well at the game!  They will introduce us and put our name up on the score board in the 4th inning.  If you have not taken your family to a Reno Aces game,  this is your chance!  It is a blast!

Please check you calendars and try to fit this in!  If your family can make it, stop by the front desk,  Julie has a free ticket for each of your children.  It will be a blast! Hope to see you there!!!

Archie reads a story! Which cracked the little kids up!

The students were very well behaved and ask very good questions! A few of my favorites were, "Do baseball players wear glasses?" and "How old were you when you started to pitch a curve ball?'  (The answer from both players to this question was, "Too young!")
