This and That!

This blog post is going to be filled with a variety of important information:

5K/10K April 28th:
I always like to give back to those individuals and organizations who have been so supportive of Oasis Academy.  Many of you may not realize that Louie Mori put in countless hours getting the school ready this summer. If he wasn't in the shop building shelving units for the teachers, he was at the school hanging bulletin boards and anything else we could wrangle him into, all at no charge to us.

Every year Louie holds a 5K/10K walk/run that benefits his high school community service project.  You DO NOT have to be a runner to participate in this event, even very young children have participated in the past.  We would love to have lots of Oasis Academy families show up to thank Louie for being our FREE Handyman!  A BBQ immediately follows the event, come on out and make it a family affair.  April 28th, Numa Elementary School, 9 a.m.  We have registration forms at the school!

CRT Tests:
You'll hear more about this over the course of the next few weeks, but please be aware, CRT testing for 3-8 grade will be April 23-26.  It is very important that your child be here!  It is also very important that you have a conversation with them about the importance of these tests. They need to take their time and read the questions carefully.  The teachers are busy doing test prep with their students and what I am hearing  is that students are RUSHING and getting answers wrong; for example, in 4th grade 18 out of 20 kiddos missed the question "What is the opposite of infant?"  They didn't miss it because they didn't know the answer, they missed it because choice "A" was "baby" and they were rushing.  Your support really matters!

Uniforms:
We are always trying to save our parents time and money (nobody has enough of either).  A parent passed this along to me and I thought I would share:

Old Navy often has a deal going where you get 15% off if you use your Old Navy Credit Card.  She paid for all but $10 of her order with SCRIP cards (AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL TOO), then put $10 of her order on her credit card and got 15% off the entire purchase.  Hope this helps save you a little!
