Happy Veterans Day

This Week

This week we are starting a school wide initiative, "An Attitude of Gratitude!"  This is the perfect time of year to take a few minutes and recognize just how lucky we all are!  Your child will be bringing home a small rectangle of construction paper on Tuesday.  They should cut it out as a leaf and write one thing you family is thankful for, and your family name; for example, "We are thankful that we get to choose our own school and church.  The Mackedons"  They can then add their family leaf to the tree.  You can use the paper we provide or your own.  Feel free to add more than one tree.

Thank you for participating in the Oasis Academy Growth Survey! We appreciate you time and will do our best to answer the questions and concerns you raised in timely manner should the board decide to grow the school.

Last Week

It was a very busy week around Oasis Academy!

The fourth and fifth graders have been working on a Churchill County History Project.  They took a few walking trips to the museum to do research.  The museum docents were so impressed with their good behavior, not only did they take the time to write the teachers an email telling them that was the best group of kids they have ever had in there, they also invited them back to have their wax museum.  By all accounts it turned out great!  Here are just a few pictures.

The middle school students have also been enjoying their latest project.  They loved using the microscopes! They also loved Mrs. Mori's demonstration of how the lungs work.  You can't tell in the picture, but she showed them, by blowing into that nasty thing, how the lungs inflate with air! It was pretty cool!

The Fallon Elks Lodge also came by to deliver thesauruses to our seventh graders.  If you are the parent of a seventh grader you can be very proud.  The Elks representatives were very complimentary of the group and their thoughtful questions.   A big thank you to the Fallon Elks Lodge for their generosity.

And last but not least, we had our Student of the Month Assembly!  This months students were:  Becca McKnight, Kolton Weishaupt, Bailey Trease, Jerek Mayhue, Sierra Williams, Hunter McNabb, Payton Oceguera, Ryder McNabb, and not pictured Brennan Weaver. Congratulation and thank you for helping to make our school great!

Next Week
Scrip orders are do! Don't procrastinate!  Get those gift cards as gifts or to do your shopping!  This is a huge fundraiser for our school!    We will also be doing a drive by SCRIP sale before Thanksgiving so you can get all your grocery store cards for the big meal as well as gift cards for black Friday fun!

Tuesday the 19th is our board meeting at 7 p.m.  As always, our board meetings are open to the public!
