6 Weeks

This Week

Scrip Order Due on the 15th- time to grow the summer wardrobe!

This week will have our student of the month and academic olympics assembly!  It is always a good time!

Many of you will still be coming in for conferences.  We thank you for taking the time and having an active interest in the progress of your children.

This is the final week before CRT's start.  I cannot emphasize to you enough how important it is that your children ARE HERE, have had breakfast, and are well rested.  The % of students who participate in the testing is hugely important to any school, but especially a school as small as ours.  Every single student's participation counts!

A lot of people are against testing.  They think it is wrong that we base a student's and a teacher's success on one test, given only once.  I understand that point of view, but I don't necessarily agree.  Our goal at Oasis Academy is to prepare students to go to college and be career ready.  The real world is all about passing a high stakes test.  You have to pass a test to cut hair, to go to college, to go to graduate school, when you're finished with grad school before you can go to work,  to be a teacher . . . . the list is endless.  It's the name of the game.  A friend was recently telling me a story about a high school automotive competition and the kids had to pass the written test to even compete- my point being there are very few exceptions to the testing rule!  There is no reason that we should not start preparing our kids when they are 9 years old- it's the world they live in!  Soap box over ;)
