Late Work Policy

I wanted to let everyone know that, contingent on board approval Sept. 20, Oasis Academy will have a new late work policy. I wanted to be sure and communicate it with you.

Last year, we had a few instances where students, particularly in the upper grades, made the choice to mess around during class time and did not get their papers written, or project completed. If your child does not have their assignment or project done on its due date, they will be sent to study hall to complete the assignment/project. The highest grade they can receive is a C. They will be graded on what they complete during study hall. As a staff, we believe it is important for students to complete every assignment and project given; but it is unfair to the students who made good choices and worked diligently during time provided in class to award a student who was irresponsible the same number of points.

As you know we have very little homework at Oasis Academy, in the event that your child does not do their homework they will attend study hall during P.E. The maximum grade they can receive on the homework is a C. They will be graded on what they get done during study hall.

This policy does not, of course, apply to work missed during absences. Students have a day plus one to make up work when they are absent (i.e. if they are sick for 2 days, they have 3 days to complete missed work). It would be a good idea to review the following policy in the Student Policy Manual on our website for the specific guidelines regarding make-up work:

This training is an effort to bring the information they get from the state leadership program they were accepted into to the entire staff.	Everyone
