Dress Code

I wanted to thank all of the parents who took the time to complete the the Uniform Survey.  We have a group of very dedicated parents working on that committee (which is no easy task) and your responses will be very helpful to them.

I also want to take a few minutes to clarify a few of the key issues so everyone understands the process.  This committee, based,  on survey results, will put together 2-3 options for the board to consider regarding the uniform policy next year.  The board will then make their decision from those options presented.

Many people made the suggestion that people should be able to purchase the uniform from any store they choose as long as long as the clothes are the right color.  At this time, this is not an option the board it willing to consider.  This would be considered a dress code, rather than a uniform.  One of the primary reasons the board chose to have uniforms was so that all students were on a "level" playing field when they arrive at school.  If you allow families to buy from different stores that equality goes away.  We would have some students who are wearing Ralph Lauren and other's are not.

Another factor people may not be aware of is the fact that Oasis Academy has received over $2000  back, in the form of cash and equipment, from French Toast.  How this money would be "made-up" if another vendor was selected will also have to be taken into account by the board.  There are certainly ways to do this, and the committee is working on establishing those so they can be presented to the board, but $2000 in kickbacks is a big perk!
